At the midyear point, the landscape of platform law firms shows both consistency at the top, and changes in the bottom half of the table. The 'Big Four' - Setfords, Taylor Rose, Keystone, and Gunnercooke - maintain their lead in lawyer headcount reinforcing their positions as key players in this sector.

There are a shift in positions. McCarthy Denning moves up to 8th place, while Bexley Beaumont advances from 11th to 9th, reflecting the competitive nature of this growing market.

There are some impressive growth percentages at the half year point. Mezzle, a newcomer, leads with an impressive 13.6% growth rate while Bexley Beaumont maintains strong momentum, with second place in the growth rankings.

Three of the Big Four are again in the top five in absolute growth numbers, with Mezzle making a surge into 5^th position. Bexley Beaumont have risen in the rankings from 7^th to 6^th and McCarthy Denning make an entrance into the top ten.

Paul Weiss, with its aggressive and highly successful hiring strategy in London, is the stand out firm in terms of growth in 2024 so far. It is interesting to note the number of regional firms such as Bevan Brittan, Freeths and Harrison Drury and Co making such a strong showing.

Again, Paul Weiss leads the way by a very large margin. There are some very impressive growth stories out in the regions, with the likes of Thursfields posting very impressive growth numbers, over just 6 months.
